Well, it's been a few days, but we're back on the wagon with exciting chills and thrills in the life of the young and the restless Genevieve!
Last week our small heroine was visited by her Nuna who washes her away with love. On Wednesday after Genny, Una and Lindsay were reunited at the bustling Ottawa train station, and after a hearty lunch of Curry Chicken Pot Pie (no kidding) - which was delicious but later rejected by Genny if you catch my drift - came a visit to the longest natural skateway in the world, the Rideau Canal. We won't go into the drama of how difficult it was to get on and off the canal with a stroller, but on the ice, it was marvellous! The best part was when our patriotic three discovered and partook (partaked?) of the delights of the BeaverTail stand. Oh my yes. In case you're wondering, that's fry bread with cinnamon and sugar.
They thought about tripping some young boys on skates to snag their steaming poutine to chase the BeaverTails, but, well, there were too many witnesses.


Thursday night: Live at the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield Quebec, it's the Vinyl Cafe with Stuart McLean! Ted and Linds took their first venture out sans bebe with Nuna holding down the fort and making sure young Genevieve didn't burn the house down. The Vinyl Cafe can be heard reliably every Sunday on CBC at the Slavin home. Stuart and Ted could be brothers don't 'cha think? Cool. For those of you who have never heard the VC, when they're on tour McLean spends a few days getting to know the place and talking to folks, then weaves it into a verbal vignette. The VC sells out a 2000 seat venue, like the National Arts Centre, and here they come to the Sheep with seating for 180. It's airing on Sat. March 25th at 10:00am on CBC Radio Two and Sun. March 26 at noon on CBC Radio One. So listen to hear about the place where this young girl is raising her parents.

Meanwhile, Nuna was all set for her granddaughter to wake up and then she would give her a bath. A great grandparent bonding activity...Una had been all ready with all the necessary encoutrements...towels laid out with precision, wash cloth and rattle at hand...just waiting for the wee bebe to wake up. Aaaaaaany time now...yeeeaaahhh... but it was not to be...noooo...Genevieve was in the VORTEX, (her swing) and didn't wake up until Ted and Linds came home - 2.5 hours later - and brought her out of her veritable coma after 10 minutes of persuasion (which included tickling). THEN she got her bath...

On Friday and Saturday, the merry band was joined by Popo (Lind's Dad) and Gen's Auntie Kate. Popo and Genny checked out for while...
