Geneviève had a fun weekend with her family though she slept through most of it. Her parents, on the other hand, got knocked out of the “sleep-when-baby-sleeps” pattern and crashed hard on Monday. Poor Shannon, Linsday’s sister, did not have much company while we were snoozing. Ah well. This is our life now.
It’s interesting to listen to Lindsay talk to other new mothers. They always ask each other how they are doing and it’s never just the polite query often made in common conversations. It’s like an intimate association that they’re all a part of, the “Contributing to an Ever-advancing Civilization” club, the “Ensuring the Continuation of the Human Race” club, or something like that. The cheeky titles I’ve come up with are too minimal for what they’ve all done and are doing. I’m still in awe of what Lindsay went through in the Maison de naissance. And this doesn’t even begin to say what the mother sacrifices for the child in raising her. The recently departed Dr. William Hatcher writes much more eloquently about this in his book titled, “Love, Power, and Justice”, but the point really hit home with Geneviève’s arrival.
Here's little Geneviève after her first bath.
The head-holding Wood family. Three generations of them right here in one picture, and only one of them is doing it on purpose!
Grandma "Nuna" and Geneviève. This little girl is, and will continue to be, spoiled rotten through the love of this woman.
Geneviève thinks Auntie Tiffany has the perfect neck and chin for napping! Auntie Kate is sporting her chapeau behind them.
I
just had to post these great pictures of Geneviève's cousins, Kieran, chillin' in the high chair, and Fiona, looking like she's plotting some mischief. Technically, the kids are second cousins, but Katrina and Linds are like sisters, so...
